“It's okay to slow down”

“Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD..” I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27-14

A new season to hope for new and better things.

I wrote this post when Covid-19 invaded our lives bringing changes that restricted us from doing the things we normally do. Although life slowed down for most of us, the good news is, it never restricted us from our connection with our Heavenly Father through prayer.

As I look back to the year 2020 during April, when I was getting ready to celebrate a milestone birthday, I remember how disappointed I was because Covid restrictions put a stop to my family plans to have a birthday celebration that would have included friends and other significant people in my life. However, I remember God's faithfulness that I was still able to celebrate it with my family at the time. That was over two years ago and time seems to have flown by. And today, as I write, I am pausing to reflect and to count God's blessings, and the awesome ways He has blessed my life. Those little things that happen daily, like a new day, waking up alive, the birds that sing on the trees outside our home and many more...

During a walk on one particular morning, I noticed these three small flowers on a plant that looked like it was dying. They were almost hidden but the beautiful colours stood out just smiling at me (see pic above). I almost missed them! And life can be like that. When we are caught up in the rush of daily life, we can easily miss those little significant moments that give us ‘wow’ moments . If we take time to slow down and look around, we will see God’s handiwork - even in the small details of life.

Praise God that life doesn't remain the same. God's plans for our lives are to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. Life continues to move forward allowing us to make fresh starts and new beginnings.

Father, thank You for your faithfulness in our lives. Help us to slow down so we can notice the small but significant things, and, to be thankful for them. Help us to be diligent in thanking You for all of our blessings.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
