Encouragement to awakening the prayer within...

The autumn leaves are falling... A new season is here once again with new changes all around us. I love autumn and all its beautiful colors. It reminds me of the many expressions of God's love. A love that is so personal, and it is also experienced by millions of people who love and know Him personally. Autumn is also a time when we are busy getting prepared to ensure that our families will be taken care of during the winter season.

Praying may not come naturally to some of us due to several reasons. The demands and pressures of everyday life can take our focus away from God and we struggle to spend time with him. Unforgiveness toward another person can hinder prayers. Unanswered prayers sometimes causes us to be discouraged and we give up easily. Therefore, God has to wake us up! God does not want to leave us discouraged, instead, he gives us a little push, a little encouragement sometimes through hearing a sermon, the scriptures or through other people that God uses to speak to us. How is your prayer life? Are you feeling isolated from spiritual support, from church or from those key sources you may have depended on for support? If you are a Christian and you want to make prayers an ongoing thing, you need the support of other Christians to help re-ignite that fire of prayer in you. You cannot do Christian life alone! Listen to what the bible says,

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil" Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12).
Let me add some encouragement from personal experiences that may also help you. There is joy and fresh energy and hope to be gained through praying with someone else. Praying with a friend you can partner with can help boost your prayer life. Doing this builds good relationships through a prayer partnership that will make you accountable to each other. Also, consider reaching out to friends who may be struggling in their walk with the Lord. While I'm on this thought, remember also your witness to non-Christians and the opportunities you have to reach out and offer to pray for them. Think of yourself praying for them and introducing them to a relationship with God through prayer. Praying with them builds a prayer friendship that will grow. If you do this intentionally, you will begin to notice positive changes for the other person and for yourself. You will witness the grace and mercy of God as he touches the lives of others as well as put fuel into your own prayer life. Sometime ago, I started initiating a prayer friendship with a work colleague. Since then, we made it a daily thing to pray at the beginning of our working day. Through this, our friendship grew as well as our trust and faith in God. It gave me courage to also pray with others on the street, on buses, trains to and from work and also in the community. That is fuel for the fire of prayer. Dear friends, we are in the kingdom of God for such a time as this! God is calling his praying men and women to wake up! We need each other to awaken prayers that are within us. How many needs stay unanswered; how many problems, disasters, tragedies have happened because the prayers to fight against these are sitting untapped within us? Yes, of course God is Sovereign and can supernaturally heal, restore and change any situation we struggle with. However, God needs us to do our part. The following scripture is a serious reminder to us all. Let's listen to the prophet Isaiah speaking, "No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and have given us over to our sins." - Isaiah 64:7-9: What is our response? Let it be - that we will rise up and go forth - to awaken the prayers in us!
Let's pray: Dear Heavenly Father, teach us to understand the times we are living in and the spiritual seasons we as individuals are in. Help us to stir up and fan into flame the gift of prayer and to align ourselves with your will and purpose for our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen. Thank you for visiting and God bless you! https://speak-to-the-darkness.blogspot.com/2013/06/awakening-prayer-within.html
