A friend of mine used to say “the years are running” (she meant that we are getting old). We used to laugh about it and I remembered it this morning. How true though. Time is passing by so quickly.
My mind was racing with so many thoughts, but my key thoughts this morning were:
Life is short
I turned 73 years old today. The last few months have been challenging ones due to health issues. I lost the desire to write and I have just started blogging again. I praise God for healing, peace and hope. I appreciate the prayers of my local church and Christian friends.
God is faithful. He will never leave us nor forsake us in our times of need.
I asked myself this morning the question, "how do you want to spend the new year added to your life? My answer is - I have no intention of sitting back and taking life as it comes. God has called us to be fruitful. Isaiah 46:4 says,
"Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you."
A Pastor friend send me a birthday message today saying, "The two most important days in life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. May Holy Spirit continue to empower your why." I appreciate the word of encouragement, it was 'food for thought', and I receive it as a word in season. And so I took it seriously and started writing this blogpost.
2. We are chosen and appointed.
John 15:16 says,
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit - that will last - and so that whatever you ask in My Name, the Father will give you.
The world is getting darker and darker. I have people are aimlessly wandering around. Jesus said we are the light of the world.
Matthew 6:14-16;
"No one lights a lamp then put it under a baskel. Instead a lamp is placed on a stand where it gives light to everyone in the house." In the same way let all our good deeds shine out for everyone to see so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father." (Verses 15-16).
I have experienced a lot of joy and fulfilment through sharing with others the goodness of God in my own life. Starting a conversation with someone often opens up opportunities to be salt and light. We have to be intentional about sharing the gospel as we go about our daily lives. Otherwise, we will miss opportunities that come our way.
Fruit-bearing does not happen without sowing seeds. Every time we share the good news of the gospel we can pray and expect a harvest from the seeds we sow.
Fruit of the Spirit
The fruit of the Spirit are, love joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. As we abide in Christ, his life will flow from Him into us and the Holy Spirit dwelling in us will produce His fruit through us.
Let us therefore pray for boldness to be witnesses for Christ. The Holy Spirit helps us to help others to come to know the Father and Jesus.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for choosing and appointing us. Please help us to be soul-winners for you. To follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to follow you and do as you would do.
Thank you for visiting.
God bless you!
